The Ride - Keara Kevay I got this short from Amazon as a free e-book.

For a free erotic short story this isn’t bad at all. It is written well, I quite liked the characters and there was some development and not just sex. It would have actually made a great full length novel.

My main problem with it is something that is beginning to bug me a lot about these types of book. I do not understand why female authors feel the need to constantly write about female characters that are unable to stand up to a bullying partner. ‘My parents’ or ‘my friends like him’ is not a good enough reason to stay with a man who makes you pay for everything, keeps all his money to himself, calls you ‘his bitch’ and eventually hits you.

It is not just this book it seems to be a trend. These are books written by women for woman, so why are there such a lack of kick ass, strong female characters in female adult fiction?

I am not a throw my bra to the fire feminist, that is not what this is about but I would just like to see more female writers writing stronger, braver, smarter and savvier female characters.

At the end of the day I do not need a man to save me for me to find him attractive.

I know that there are some kick ass women out there in literature (especially in PNR) but they seem to be few and far between in realistic, non-paranormal/fantasy/YA literature.
