One Hot Knight seemed like a fun and flirty book and I was interested in the bizarre blurb. I thought it would be a little bit different from other romances I have read recently and in some ways it was, but generally I was quite disappointed in it.

It all started well and I really liked the play on the historical romance. Regina finds a dog that turns into a man. Yves has been living life as a dog for 900 years due to a witches curse. I liked that it bought the historical romance into the present. Yves had all the characteristics of a historical hero but was stuck in a modern world with a modern girl. It should have been interesting but unfortunately it wasn’t.

Nearly the whole first half of the book is Yves trying to convince Regina to sleep with him. That is pretty much all that happens. He tries to persuade her and she says no. That’s it. It was repetitive and boring. By the time things got interesting I was pretty much done with this so didn’t really care anymore. I don’t know why he kept pushing it, but there again I don’t know why she kept saying no because she really wanted him.

Another issue is the ending that was rushed and not very well thought out. Stuff happened with no lead up at all, suddenly Regina had a past life and could do things that were never even hinted at. I found the characters a little bland. Regina is a bit ditzy and silly, I couldn’t really get to know her much or Yves due to the sex thing.

All in all this one just wasn’t for me and I didn’t really enjoy it.
