The Reluctant Wag is a decent contemporary romance, it didn’t blow me away but I enjoyed it and got through it quickly. I liked the storyline, it was decent and easy to get into it wasn’t full of unneeded drama and endless plot.

The characters were alright, Merise is strong and I quite liked her, she wasn’t a wet blanket and didn’t allow herself to wallow when things got tough. Cal wasn’t as nice; in fact sometimes I quite disliked him. He was easy to anger and tried to misunderstand Merise whenever he could. I felt that he could be quite selfish. Despite that I liked the romance between them, they matched well.

The Reluctant Wag is a sweet and short novel and isn’t going to blow your mind but it is a nice read on a lazy afternoon.
