Originally I did not think much of all these retellings coming out. I guess I didn’t really see the point, but then I read one, and another one, and another and so far I have surprisingly enjoyed them, The Curse Girl is no exception.
This book was extremely easy to get lost in. It has the basics of Beauty and the Beast (which it is based on) but it is not the same at all. This is a lot darker and a bit more magical. The story was entertaining from beginning to end and the writing was very good. Some of the description and imagery was really nicely done.
My main issue with this book was the characters, I liked then but I couldn’t quite connect with them and I could have cared about them more. Also, the ending felt extremely rushed which was distracting.
Despite a few niggles I really liked this, it is a very enjoyable, short read.
